Inspectors find flies in three restaurants

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

In this week's NBC12 Restaurant Report, three area restaurants were written up for problems that had inspectors buzzing.

Excess flies were observed in the kitchen at Sports Page Bar and Grill at 8319 Bell Creek Road in Hanover, according to the health inspection report. Sports Page had eight critical violations plus 12 non-critical. Upon returning a week later, the inspector noted only one fly in the kitchen and all other problems were corrected except for two non-critical.

An inspector also noticed flies in the kitchen at Hibachi Sushi and Supreme Buffet at 8087 West Broad Street in Henrico. Hibachi Sushi had five critical violations on its last inspection. Restaurant management was told to repair the screen door to keep the flies out. Violations were fixed during the inspection.

In Chesterfield, at Clippers Cafe at 3511 Courthouse Road, one of its six critical violations was that adequate methods were not being used to control flies. But that and all other violations were corrected when the inspector returned, except for two non critical.

Inspectors haven't found any problems at Tokyo Japanese Express in Virginia Center Commons in four recent inspections. It wins the NBC12 Hall of Fame Award for acing its health checkups.
