INDIAN TRAIL, NC (WBTV) -

A Charlotte police officer, with more than a decade on the force, will be in a Mecklenburg Co. courtroom on Tuesday after allegations of domestic violence.

Michael Snider was arrested last week in Union County after deputies say they were called to the officer's home about a domestic dispute.

According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the home of 32-year-old Michael Snider in Indian Trail around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Snider's wife, Kelly, told deputies that he picked her up and threw her to the ground during an argument. It isn't clear how extensive her injuries were.

"He yanked my arm and picked me up by my waist and threw me on the ground," Kelly Snider told WBTV.

Snider was arrested by deputies and charged with assault on a female and held under a $2,500 bond.

"It's just really sad to see him be this way," she said.

He later bonded out and was served with a domestic violence protective order. His firearms have been seized as a part of that order, which is normal protocol.

WBTV spoke to Patti Snider, the officer's mother. She says Kelly Snider's account of what happened is incorrect.

"It hurts. He spent his whole life trying to be a police officer and this is what he gets for it," Officer Snider's mother, Patti told WBTV.

Snider was hired by the CMPD on March 10, 2003 and he is currently assigned to patrol in the Independence Division.

Snider has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
