Missionaries released from quarantine after returning from Ebola hot zone

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

All missionaries who were under quarantine after returning to the United States from the Ebola hot zone in Liberia have been released.

On August 11, three missionaries who were serving in Liberia arrived at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport by private charter.

Among the three was David Writebol, husband of Charlotte resident and SIM missionary Nancy Writebol, who was treated for the Ebola virus at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

David was cleared from quarantine on August 17, and his wife was released from the hospital on August 19.

The other two missionaries are SIM doctors who have been treating Ebola patients at SIM's ELWA medical facilities in Monrovia, Liberia.

The missionaries were staying on the SIM campus in southwest Charlotte, in an area reserved as an RV park with 60 acres of space.

On Thursday, officials said the remaining missionaries were in good health and had left the SIM campus to be reunited with family and friends.
