CHALROTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Students and staff have been moved from a section of a Charlotte middle school after a carbon monoxide alert on Thursday.

Emergency crews were called out to Coulwood Middle School in northwest Charlotte Thursday afternoon. This is along the 500 block of Kentberry Drive.

Firefighter say they were called out due to "Carbon Monoxide readings" at 12:17 p.m. It happened in the cafeteria-area of the school.

The alarm and the possible exposure was contained to the 7th grade hall, CMS officials told WBTV. That area of the school is closed off for now, but students have returned to other parts of the building.

Medical officials say they treated two cafeteria workers at the school, but did not take them to the hospital.

The school system is going to continue to monitor the 7th grade hall. Maintenance is working on correcting the problem.
