Cannon close to sentencing

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

We've learned former mayor Patrick Cannon could hear his sentence on corruption charges as early as next week. Cannon is facing a max of 20 years and a quarter million dollars fine for taking bribes. It said he's been cooperating with the feds and that could shave his sentence down.

Tonight, Molly Grantham talks to a young man who engaged an ISIS supporter on Twitter.  That is the sources of the bomb threat against SouthPark Mall. He says he's just a concerned citizen trying to get as much information as possible from those who hate America.

Someone flew an unmanned aircraft into Bank of America Stadium during the Panthers game against the Chiefs last week. CMPD questioned the man who piloted the drone. Now the FAA says it's investigating. We'll let you know what happens.

Accusations of hazing surface against UNC's football team. A freshman suffered a concussion at the hotel where the teams stayed during pre-season camp.

And finally, the state DOT responds to the traffic nightmare at exit #28 on I-77 in Cornelius. The new diverging diamond is one rough route-- doubling and tripling some commuter times. Now the state says it is speeding up to complete the state's first interchange of its kind.

Please join Eric Thomas, Delano Little, Molly Grantham and me for WBTV News at 11:00 tonight!
