Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride rolls into Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride rolled through Charlotte Saturday. The ride started at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Belmont at 9:00 a.m.

The event is designed to help Wounded Warriors restore their physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Organizers say they want to raise awareness for our nation's wounded warriors who suffer the physical and psychological damages of war.

The group provides modified bikes for soldiers that have a variety of disabilities and injuries at no cost.

The Soldier ride began in 2004, when civilian Chris Carney cycled more than 5,000 miles coast to coast in support of the Wounded Warrior Project.

More information about the Soldier ride is available at soldierride.org.
