The first football game of the season is always a big day for players but for one Poplar Bluff high schooler, he's already won.

Sophomore Caleb Morrow is healthy and back on the field after an undetected heart condition caused him to collapse during practice earlier this month.

Before Friday night's game, Morrow and the first responders who saved him were honored in a ceremony on the field.

Morrow's family credits the coaching staff for saving his life. The athletic trainer and assistant coach performed CPR while the head coach called an ambulance.

EMTs were on the scene within minutes.

Morrow's family said they are stunned by all of the support.

"Oh, it's awesome," said Tamara Lewis, Morrow's mother. "I see the support in the community. It's a blessing."

The players all passed their physicals just a week and a half before Morrow collapsed.

Morrow was treated at Cardinal Glennon in St. Louis, Mo.
