CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - On Monday, thousands of students in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District will head back to class. CMS has a number of resources to make sure your child is ready for the first day.
Parent Check List
Update address if family has moved or changed contact information
Make sure schools have updated address and phone number information for all students.
Check on required immunizations and physicals
According to CMS, parents must present a health assessment (physical exam report) by the first day of school entry, using an assessment completed within 12 months of school entry. Parents must also present a certificate of immunizations on the first day of school. Health clinics are available throughout Mecklenburg County to help families with immunizations.
Make sure you review your bus stop location and time – some bus stops may have changed
CMS says families will receive bus stop pick-up and drop-off times in the mail about a week before school starts.
Once families receive their student's bus schedules the district suggests you review the information with the child and walk to and from the assigned bus stop, particularly with elementary aged children.
Know your school bell times
Students should be in school and ready to learn when the school bell rings. View the 2014-2015 bell schedule.
