Charlotte Mecklenburg police say an 8-year-old boy drowned at an apartment complex pool in South Charlotte.It happened Saturday night on Renard Ridge Road around 8 p.m.
Police say three children climbed the fence around the complex pool to go swimming. That's when police believe the 8-year-old boy went under in the deep end of the pool.
Police say he was not breathing when the two other children called for help.
The victim was not breathing when officers arrived.First responders performed CPR as the boy taken to the hospital but he was pronounced dead around 9:00 p.m..
At this time, police are calling the incident an "unfortunate accident" and don't believe foul pay was involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
