SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

Responding to complaints received in June about illegal activity at the Economy Inn on Bendix Drive, Salisbury Police and the state ALE (Alcohol Law Enforcement) began an investigation that resulted in a raid on the property Thursday.

Police had been investigating accusations of narcotic sells, overdoses, prostitution and robberies in the area of 319 Bendix Dr. Salisbury, the location of the Economy Inn, according to a police report.

ALE undercover agents purchased narcotics during the last two months and Salisbury Police Narcotics assisted them with surveillance.

On Thursday at  2:30 pm simultaneous search warrants were served at 319 Bendix (Economy Inn) and 109 Torbush Rd in East Spencer as a result of the combined efforts.

John Hipps, Tricia Weast, Selina Locklear, Ricky Lee Hoskins, Jr, and J. P. Miller have been arrested in this project.  Police say all were staying at the hotel.

There were 52 charges that included the sale, possession, trafficking, and delivery of cocaine, possession and sale of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
