DEVELOPING TODAY: Name of officer in deadly Ferguson shooting being released

Hello and good morning! It's Christine Nelson sending you this email from my desk in the newsroom. Today is Friday, August 15. I've been combing through the rundown so I can give you a quick first look at the top headlines we'll be talking about on WBTV News This Morning. We're live from 4:30-9:00 a.m. on WBTV and Bounce TV.

As you have seen now, days of violent protests in Ferguson, Missouri have made national headlines. Protesters have been demanding police release the name of the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown. Ferguson police say that will happen today. So we'll be watching closely for that. Meanwhile, peaceful protests have been held across the nation including here in Charlotte. The shooting is an eerie reminder of a pending case where Jonathan Ferrell was shot and killed by a Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer. We'll let you hear what people at the Charlotte rally are saying about the Ferguson shooting.

Other headlines:

*VIDEO ALERT: We have new footage showing Charlotte native Nancy Writebol disinfecting doctors in Liberia who were treating people infected with Ebola.

*More guns confiscated at Charlotte airport than in all of 2013.

*Victims identified in plane crash in South Carolina.

*Where the CDC says is the germiest place in school!

See you on air!

~Christine
