Firefighters rescue two cats from burning home in east Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Firefighters rescued two cats from a burning home in Charlotte on Wednesday.

The fire began at a home on Bluestone Court in east Charlotte around 10:30 a.m. Twenty-eight firefighters responded and were able to knock the fire down in 24 minutes.

During that time, the two cats were rescued from the home and given medical treatment.

According to Charlotte Fire Department Captain Rob Brisley, both cats survived and will be housed at Animal Care and Control for up to ten days at no cost to the owners.

The family that lived in the home was displaced, and is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
