Lauren Bacall passes away

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom. A few notes about tonight's 11:00 broadcast--

I'm sure by bias is showing, but one of my favorite actresses of all time, Lauren Bacall, died tonight at age 89. Who could forget the husky voiced sexy beauty playing alongside the man's man Humphrey Bogart? My favorite line of Bacall's-- "you know how to whistle, don't you, Steve?" That's from "To Have and Have Not."

Former East Gaston wrestling coach Gary Goins will spend much of the next four decades in prison for sexually abusing boys. He was found guilty on 17 counts and after the verdict was read, District Attorney Locke Bell was frank, saying, "I hope he dies in prison." Goins very well may.

Here we go again with a sports team wanting city money. The Hornets play to make a play for the NBA All-Star game, but say they need $40-million in improvements to the city-owned TWC Arena. City leaders we spoke with say there isn't that kind of money available from the tax coffers so the team may have to kick in a bunch. Talks are schedule to start next month.

Have you heard of this crazy "ice bucket challenge?" Members of the Kennedy clan were pouring buckets of ice water over their heads today. Why? We'll explain what they hope to accomplish.

Please join Eric Thomas, Delano Little, Brigida Mack and me for WBTV News at 11:00 tonight!
