Police: Trio robbed store, exchanged gunfire with employee

Detectives in Charlotte are asking for the public's help in identifying three men they say robbed a store at gunpoint then exchanged fire with an employee.

The incident happened on Monday around 9:20 p.m. at Jerry's Mini Mart on the 8800 block of Mt. Holly Road in northwest Charlotte.

Police say three men, all described as black males in their early twenties with an average height and build, went into the store and robbed the employee's at gunpoint. All three had their faces covered, and one had long dreads.

After the trio left the store, officials said one of the men fired a shot at an employee. That employee returned fire but no one was injured.

The robbers then left the area on foot in an unknown direction.
