TORONTO (RNN) – You’ll never expect this from a bank in the U.S. - TD Canada Trust surprised several longtime customers with touching and lovely gifts.

The bank turned their normal ATMs from tellers to "automated thanking machines," giving valued customers gifts they could not turn down, but couldn't get for themselves. The tellers in each bank told the executives about the struggles of their clients and they wanted to do something about it.

The customers were told they would be testing out a new machine.

"A thank you can change someone's day, so that's why we have been surprising our customers across Canada, to say 'TD Thanks You.' We know Canadians have a lot of choice when it comes to where they bank, and we wanted to say that we appreciate that they continue to choose TD," Tim Hockey, President and CEO TD Canada Trust, said in a press release

The touching reactions of the banking customers were caught on camera and posted on YouTube on July 24. The video has more than 4 million views.

The automated thanking machines, a part of the bank’s #TDThanksYou campaign, were set up in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver, according to Mashable.

Some of the awesome gifts given to customers include:

  • Christine, a mother of two, was given two piggy banks for her children, which included $1,000 each for college funds, plus tickets to Disneyland. “I've never been able to take my kids anywhere,” she said.
  • A Toronto Blue Jays fan named Mike Jobin was given Blue Jays swag and tickets at his Pickering, Ontario branch. He was then greeted by right fielder Jose Bautista, who told him he would throw out the first pitch at a game.
  • Dorothy received round-trip tickets to Trinidad to see her daughter, who has been fighting cancer. (Kleenex alert)
  • A machine gave one lucky little boy with his mom a crisp $20 bill.

The giving didn't stop there with the video's reactions - any customer who walked into a branch by 2 p.m. on July 25 received a $20 at any of the bank's 1,100 locations, and mobile banking users received $20 direct deposits.
