What should you believe about Charlotte car maintenance?

It's true that your vehicle needs routine car maintenance in Charlotte to keep in in prime condition. However, sometimes the details about what your car really needs can get a little foggy. We're sure you've heard a lot of different ideas about what car maintenance your vehicle needs, but you shouldn't always believe everything you hear. Here are some common misconceptions about auto service and the truth behind them:

  • You should never replace only one car tire at a time: If you have a flat tire, professionals will most likely advise you to replace at least two tires at a time. This isn't always necessary if the rest of your car tires have a lot of tread depth left; however, you want to makes sure the new tire is the exact same as the others. If your car is four-wheel drive, however, you have to replace all four car tires in Charlotte!
  • Your car needs an oil change every 3,000 miles: This is one of the most common myths about car maintenance in Charlotte. This is because old cars actually needed an oil change every 3,000 miles. However, cars and oil now is designed to last much longer, which means they typically need an oil change in Charlotte every 5,000-10,000 miles (depending on the type of oil and the car).
  • Your car will perform better with premium gas: If your vehicle requires premium gas, than you should definitely use it. However, most vehicles can run just fine on regular 87-octane gas. Adding premium gas to these vehicles won't make a difference in performance, which means you're essentially wasting your money!
  • You should only use synthetic motor oil: Just like we mentioned with premium gas, you should use synthetic motor oil if your car requires it. If your vehicle doesn't require it, the option is yours. Synthetic oil may last longer, but it typically costs more. Regular motor oil will need to be changed more often, but is cheaper. The type of oil you use is truly up to you!
