SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - It's one of, if not the biggest indoor yard sale in Rowan County, and it's coming up this weekend at the First Ministry at First Baptist Church.
We asked FBC Minister of Education Rod Kerr to tell us about it, and he certainly did!
The Sixth Annual Singled Out Yard Sale will be held Friday, August 1, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, August 2, 7 a.m.-Noon at the First Ministry Center, 220 North Fulton Street. Sponsored by the Singled Out Ministry of First Baptist-Salisbury, this year's sale will continue to offer electronics, furniture, sports equipment, housewares and clothes.
In addition, this year will host also a Vendor Expo featuring products like Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Origami Owl, Mary Kay, Scentsy, and Thirty-One, as well as book tables by local authors.
Handmade crafts will also be a part of the Expo.
In the past six years, proceeds from the yard sale have been used to purchase book bags and school tools for Rowan County students, support prison and foster care ministries in West Virginia and Kentucky, as well as digging wells in Bihar, India and sending medical supplies and vehicles to an orphanage in Leogane, Haiti.
"Through projects like the yard sale, dinner theaters and other fundraisers, this one ministry made up of single adults from First Baptist and other churches has donated over $30,000 to local, regional and global ministries," said Rod Kerr, Minister of Education at First Baptist and coordinator of Singled Out Ministries.
Other activities this year will include a silent auction and various door prizes.
The Singled Out cookbook "I Want That Recipe," featured a few weeks ago in the Salisbury Post, will also be available. Hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage biscuits, chips and drinks will be available one hour before doors open.
