A Charlotte man was arrested on Tuesday and charged for a rape that happened more than twenty years ago.
Kirk Deanglo Evans, 50, was arrested and charged with first degree rape, first degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The incident happened on February 15, 1994. Police say a woman walking on Beatties Ford Road was forced into a vehicle by Evans.
Evans then drove to a location on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road where police say he sexually assaulted and robbed the woman before letting her go.
The victim then called the authorities, but they were unable to identify a suspect at the time.
In 2013, Cold Case detectives re-examined evidence from the incident, and reportedly matched DNA with Evans.
Evans was taken into custody Tuesday morning and interviewed by detectives before being arrested on the charges.
