Man shot, critically injured after fight in Mint Hill

MINT HILL, NC (WBTV) -

A Mint Hill man has been charged with assault after police say he got into a fight with another man and shot him multiple times.

According to police, the shooting happened along the 10300-block of Brush Creek Lane around 11:24 p.m. Monday night.

Officers say an argument broke out between 26-year-old Sam Babb Clonts and 25-year-old Aaron Brandon Allen. That's when Clonts shot Allen multiple times.

Allen was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with critical injuries. Clonts and another person were on scene when officers arrived and were questioned by police.

Clonts was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He has been booked at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
