Door-to-door trouble

People are falling for a door-to-door scam in Gastonia

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom. At 11:00 tonight, we've got a warning about a creepy man going door-to-door telling a sob story and looking for a handout. Police says he's an apparent con man. Reporter David Spunt will tell you how he's tricking people out of money.

Dollar Tree has agreed to buy Matthews-based Family Dollar for $8.5 billion. If you're a stockholder of Family Dollar, you just got a 20% return on your money.

Reporter Coleen Harry is investigating complaints against a local towing company. Residents in one mobile home community are required to park in their driveways and keep the streets clear. But if a tire touches the grass, then the tow truck is hooking up and taking cars away. Doesn't sound quite fair, does it?

Weatherwise, it's clear and cooling down this week. Kelly Franson says we won't see another 90-degree day this July. There were only thirteen days we hit 90 or above all month.
