Deputies: Duo arrested on drug charges after trying to run from traffic stop

ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Two men were arrested after on drug charges after they tried to run from their vehicle when deputies pulled them over, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.

Mathew Walter Robertson, 28, and Brandon Keith Moody, 32, were arrested on Friday on the 300 block of Pop Stirewalt Road.

Deputies said they pulled over a Ford Ranger that the duo was riding in, but that both men immediately got out and tried to "distance themselves from the vehicle."

After a brief struggle, both men were apprehended and a search was conducted on the truck.

During that search, deputies said they found six grams of crystal methamphetamine, one gram of heroin, plastic baggies, digital scales, and used syringes.

Robertson was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver methamphetamine, possession of heroin, simple possession of SCH IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.

He was placed under a $75,000 bond and is due in court on July 28.

Moody was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed under a $500 bond and is due in court on August 25.
