Report: SC woman had 2 children in car when arrested for DUI

CHESTER COUNTY, SC (WBTV) -

A woman was arrested in Chester County after deputies say she drove intoxicated with two children in her car.

Jessica Large, 34, was arrested on Thursday and charged with driving under the influence, child endangerment, open container, and no South Carolina driver's license.

The arrest happened just after midnight on the JA Cochran Bypass area of the county.

Deputies were conducting a public safety checkpoint when they say Large pulled up. She stopped as instructed, but had trouble rolling her window down to speak to the deputies, according to the report.

Deputies said that an odor of alcohol was coming from the vehicle, and that Large's eyes were glossy and that her speech was slurred.

They also said that there were two children in the car with Large. Their ages were not released.

Large told deputies that she had only had a beer earlier in the evening, but then handed them an open 25-ounce can of Busch Ice when asked if she had any open beer in the vehicle, the report states.

She was then given a field sobriety test, during which deputies said she "displayed many indicators of impairment."

Large was then arrested on the charges and taken to the Chester County Detention Center.
