GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

On Wednesday, jurors heard testimony from the last alleged sexual abuse victim of a former Gaston County High School wrestling coach.

Gary Goins is charged with 22 sex crimes against minors.

Tension was high in the Gaston County courtroom as the third and final alleged sex abuse victim in the Goins trail took the stand.

He told jurors he met Goins in the 8th grade and the allege sexual abuse happened shortly thereafter, when he went on a road trip with the high school wrestling team and slept in the same bed as Goins.

He was 13 at the time.

"I'd get woken up in the middle of the night by him grabbing your hand and putting it on him," said the witness.

The witness later told jurors that his relationship with Goins grew to the point where the two would have dinners together and the accuser would spend time at Goins' home.

As the two spent more time together, that's when the accuser says the alleged sexual abuse happened more often.

He told jurors that he and Goins performed sex acts on each other in classrooms and offices at East Gaston High and at Goins' home.

"I don't know how we progressed to the point where we were at but he just put his hands on my chest or put his hand on my shoulder and I just kind of knew," the witness told jurors.

Although the witness says his parents saw the two spending more time together, they never question it because of the accuser's passion for wrestling, and he never told anyone about the alleged acts.

"You just kind of want to act like it's not happening, I suppose. It's things you hear about on TV, but you don't think it's actually going to happen to you. At the same time, who's going to believe you," asked the witness.

The witness told jurors the alleged abuse happened so often, the encounters merge together.

"Trying to differentiate between these types of things, it's almost like me asking you to tell me every time you washed your hands," he said.

Goins' defense lawyer will cross-examine the witness on Thursday.

Goins' charges include indecent liberties with a child, indecent liberties with a student and statutory rape/sex offense of a child six years old or older.

On June 6, 2013, he was also charged with two counts of crimes against nature.
