CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A UNC-Charlotte student and martial artist battling Leukemia was flown to Las Vegas to meet Chuck Norris this weekend.

WBTV's Molly Grantham first wrote about 20-year-old Jack Bretz in 2013 as he began his battle with Acute Lymphocyctic Leukemia. He had just been diagnosed.

At that time, Jack was only weeks away from getting his black belt in Tang Soo Do, a form of martial arts. He'd been training for a fight, he just never thought the fight was going to be cancer.

His family says once he got his head around it, Jack has been battling A.L.L. the only way he knows how: With resolve, determination, discipline and incredible courage.

Dream On 3, a relatively new local sports wish-granting organization, flew Jack out to Las Vegas this past weekend and introduced him to the American martial artist and actor, Chuck Norris.

Norris presented Jack with a Black Belt in Chun Kuk Do and told him he was "The kind of young man we like to have in our organization."

WBTV was at the airport when Jack arrived back in Charlotte Monday night. He said the experience was "amazing."

"The time of my life," Jack said, "Vegas - Chuck Norris - You can't wrong!"
