Fire breaks out at Charlotte factory

Saturday night, a fire broke out at Cumulus Fibres on Tarheel Road.

Charlotte firefighters received the call around 9:30 p.m. when the fire started.

Multiple workers were inside at the time, but luckily, no one was injured.

Workers tell WBTV the fire started near some machinery.

They say they tried to put it out with fire extinguishers, but when the fire grew they decided to leave the building and call 911.

More than a dozen fire trucks responded because crews didn't know if they were dealing with a hazmat situation.

After investigating, they discovered they were not.

Crews have yet to release the official cause of the fire.
