LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police have arrested the suspect in two recent thefts of Best Buy in St. Matthews.

St. Matthews Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Wallace Sanders, 50, earlier this week. He was wanted for thefts that occurred on July 9 and 12 at the Best Buy on Shelbyville Road. Police said he stole computers valued at about $3,000 total.

He was arrested by Shively Police around midnight Friday and charged with seven counts of shoplifting, one count of fleeing or evading police, one count of possession of cocaine, five additional counts of theft by unlawful taking and one count of second degree escape.

Those charges relate to at least seven separate court cases. The exact circumstances of his arrest are not known at this time.

Best Buy believes the suspect is in fact responsible for 30 thefts over the past three years, during which merchandise worth around $250,000 was stolen on different occasions. Detectives said he may have hit Best Buy stores on Outer Loop and in Clarksville, Indiana, as well as the one in St. Matthews.

Police still have not identified a female pictured in surveillance footage with Sanders. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the St. Matthews Police Department at (502) 893-9000.
