Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom. Terribly sad story tonight from Burke County-- two women and a child were all killed in a car wreck. Troopers tell us high speed caused the driver to loose control. The child was throw from the vehicle. Reporter Steve Ohnesorge will have the latest details.
Deputies are on the hunt for whoever threw a water bottle out of passing car, hitting a toddler in the face, causing a gash and bruises. Reporter David Spunt is talking to the father who is livid that someone would be so cruel.
An interesting turn of events in the State Senate. Leaders are debating a bill to cap the sales tax at 2.5%-- and since Mecklenburg County's sale tax is already at 2.5%, it would effectively kill the quarter-cent tax referendum locals were hoping would pay for teacher raises.
