Charlotte region could see record low temps Thursday morning

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

After getting through a crazy day of relentless torrential thunderstorms Tuesday, WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says the weather really gets quiet and comfortable Wednesday.

We find ourselves on the backside of a cold front, drier weather returns, and that includes lower humidity too, Conklin says.

Sunshine will break out, thunderstorm chances drop to near zero through Thursday, and highs will stay well below 90 degrees.

In between, we'll challenge record lows Thursday morning; I expect Charlotte will fall to near 60 degrees, breaking the record of 62 set 10 years ago.

In fact, high temperatures may not hit 90 degrees again for at least a week.

That's a big 'Wow' for mid to late July!
