Man loses wallet in bold scam on his front porch

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - A man living on Belk Road in Mount Ulla had his wallet stolen in a very unusual fashion according to investigators with the Rowan Sheriff's Office.

According to the report, a homeowner answered a knock on his front door Monday afternoon at around 2:30.

When he answered the door he saw a young man white man standing on the porch holding a $100 bill.

The man told the homeowner that he owed him an $80 refund on his power bill and wanted to now if he had change for the $100.  When the homeowner took the wallet out of his pocket, the man grabbed and ran away, jumping into a white car and driving off towards Highway 801 in the direction of Salisbury.

The homeowner lost his wallet, a Social Security card, and about $35 cash.
