Several rounds of storms set to hit Tuesday afternoon

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says an active day of weather is on the way for Tuesday, with a major cool front poised to cross the area.

There's a good chance we'll have several rounds of showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours, Conklin says.

There is a risk for severe weather, especially along and east of Interstate-77, with damaging wind and hail the greatest threats.

We'll make a run up close to 90 degrees Tuesday before any rain comes to town, then cool off into the 60s overnight as skies gradually clear, Conklin says.

Behind the front, sunshine returns for Wednesday and Thursday with a nice drop in the humidity and cooler temperatures in the 80s.

Unsettled weather may return over the weekend, as right now, it appears that rain may fall at least part of both Saturday ad Sunday.
