Afternoon storms set to cool things off Monday

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says after a quiet weekend of weather things begin to change Monday as a front approaches the Carolinas from the north.

The first areas to start hearing thunder will likely be the mountains and foothills.

Storms may remain scattered in the Piedmont of North and South Carolina Monday afternoon, Conklin says, but will likely increase Tuesday as the front penetrates the viewing area.

Monday likely brings the hottest day of the week, before more clouds and increased rain chances knock us back under 90 degrees.

Behind the front, temperatures will scale back into the 80s the remainder of the week and rain chances drop.

That's a good bargain for mid July.
