Crimestoppers: serial robber hitting fast food restaurants

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Two gas stations and a fast food restaurant-- three robberies that police know of-- all attributed to one man.

His spree started at the Subway Sandwich across from the Metropolitan on Kings Street. Surveillance shows a young, slim man wearing a white shirt and blue cap, walk in.

He waits his turn, but appears nervous-- looking around and out the window several times.
He seems nervous, looking out the window several times.

All of the sudden, he pounces.

He pulls a silver handgun out which scaring customers and workers alike. He takes a woman's purse and demands money from the register.

"He hasn't said I want to kill you, to my knowledge," explains CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson. "Nobody was threatened and no one has been assaulted-- yet."

It's the "yet" part that has police worried.

"It's a little bit of money in there and he's hitting like once a week, so that money is only lasting short period of time, and he's going back and robbing other places. He may get frustrated because going in a little Mom and Pop restaurant where there's no money, he may get violent."

And he has robbed other places, according to police. They have pictures of him four days later dressed in black, robbing the Circle K on Idlewild. Then, five days later, they have him in a pink shirt and white cap, robbing the Sam's Mart on Statesville Road.

So why are investigators convinced it's the same guy in all three stick-ups?

"The guy is about 5'-6", 5'-7" in height, about 150 pounds, dark skin complexion, and he has that little medium beard growth, just a little goatee. It's the same individual. We compared all the videos and this individual no doubt is the one who committed all these robberies."

After the last robbery, police believe he is riding with two other men in a dark sedan. They are believed to be frequenting the Wilkinson Boulevard area.
