ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

Former Lancaster County Sheriff John Walker Cauthen turned himself in to investigators Thursday after they say he shot out a woman's front door and car windshield with a slingshot.

The incident was reported on June 6 at 7:36 p.m. on the 1400 block of Hyacinthia Lane, according to the report from the Rock Hill Police Department.

A neighbor said that she was inside her home and heard a popping noise at her door.

When she walked to the front door she noticed the glass was shattered out of it and several pellets lying on the ground, according to the report.

She told investigators that she saw Cauthen peeking around the corner of his house looking at her.

The victim also discovered that the windshield of her car was also shot out with a slingshot pellet.

Total estimated damage of both the car and the door is valued at $4,267, according to the report.

Cauthen is charged with two counts of damage to real property.
