New tool helps fight online sexual predators

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Last year,  the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) worked over 4,000 online sexual predator investigations.

ICE logged almost one million hours working over 4,000 online sexual predator investigations. ICE said the best way to prevent sexual exploitation of children is education.  But how do you approach such a dark and disturbing topic with young children?

The goal of iGuardian is to make that conversation and process easier.

Our cyber expert, Theresa Payton, has reviewed the program, supports it, and has some tips on how to use Project iGuardian:


1.  You can request to have iGuardian talk at your kid's school or to address the parents.

Law enforcement officers will provide in person tips, by age group, on how to spot and how to avoid online sexual predators
