Charlotte celebrates Independence Day

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Fireworks will be launching from the new BB&T Ballpark after the game on Independence Day.

Before the game, people can celebrate our nation's independence on Mint Street outside the ballpark for the Skyshow street party.

There's plenty of things for the kids to do like face painting, crafts and rides. A Ferris wheel will give you a good view of the ballpark and Romare Bearden Park.

This is the first summer for BB&T Ballpark and the first July 4 that Charlotte will celebrate the holiday from the ballpark. It's a party atmosphere. The performers and vendors will be out until seven p.m. Friday, then the attention will move inside.

The baseball game starts at 7:05 p.m. and the fireworks will begin after the Charlotte Knights play the Norfolk Tides.

The game is sold out, but there are plenty of places to watch the show.
