Arthur landfall imminent

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom. Heavy rain, damaging winds and vicious lightening-- and that was just in the Charlotte area tonight. At the beach, Hurricane Arthur just upgraded to a category-2 storm and landfall near Outer Banks is imminent-- possibly at Atlantic Beach. Eric Thomas says Arthur drifted closer to the coastline that predicted earlier today, so there are fears for the flooding and wind damage the storm my wreak on eastern North Carolina.

Our team of reporters will go live to update conditions at Atlantic Beach and Eric will have an update on Arthur's latest track and strength at 11:00.

Here in Charlotte, heavy rains caused localized flooding across town. In Cherryville, the aluminum roof of a car wash was blown over in strong winds. And lightening may be the cause of a fire at a lumber yard tonight.

CMPD found a body they strongly believe is Bianca Tanner, the teacher and mother who was missing for more than three weeks. They also arrested Tanner's boyfriend, Angelo Smith, Jr. and charged him with murder. He spoke one word to our camera crews-- "I'm sorry."

Governor Pat McCrory signed into law the CBD Oil bill. It allows provides some epileptic children with relief from seizures. The oil is made from the marijuana plant, but it's an extract that doesn't make a person high. Molly Grantham, who has reported on local families who moved to Colorado to treat their children, spoke with the Governor about why he supports the new law.

Please join Molly, Eric, Delano Little and me for WBTV News at 11:00 tonight!
