CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Ashley Batey says Hurricane Arthur will have little impact on the Charlotte region as it brushes the coast of North Carolina on Friday.

Arthur is expected to make landfall overnight along the Outer Banks but may hit as a category 2 storm rather than a strong category 1.

That means maximum sustained winds could top 100 miles per hour, Batey says.

Rainfall along the coast is forecast between four and five inches over the next 24 hours.

But back in Charlotte, Batey says all Arthur will do is increase our chances for an afternoon thunderstorm Thursday.

So don't cancel those fun Fourth of July plans!

After Arthur quickly moves out on Friday, a gorgeous weekend is in store with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid to uppers 80s.
