Judge denies bond for Rock Hill murder suspect

A Rock Hill judge has denied bond for a 19-year-old man accused of murder.

Donquavious Davis stood emotionless and said little in front of a Rock Hill judge, Wednesday, as she read the charges against him.

Davis is accused of murdering 24-year-old Santario McCoy early Sunday morning at a home on Baker Street.

Police say the motive behind the shooting was a woman that McCoy was dating, who happens to be Davis' ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child.

WBTV caught up with McCoy's mother after bond was denied for Davis.

"He had nothing to say, nothing to say. We are hurting because Santario was loved and well liked and he didn't deserve this," said McCoy's mother Lynette McCoy-Mullins.

What makes this situation even worse for the family is when detectives revealed Davis showed no remorse during interviews after he turned himself in Tuesday afternoon.

"What type of person are you? You don't feel anything that you took this man away from his family and his children," asked McCoy-Mullins.

WBTV stopped by Davis' home to get a comment from family and his mother says investigators have the wrong guy.

"I'm 100% sure he didn't do this, but my sympathy goes out to the family. It's a loss both ways," said Davis' mother, Shenisa Davis.

"He's not a person that wouldn't have remorse if he did something like that," she continued.

McCoy leaves behind three young children, all under the age of three.

"The kids are just walking around the house looking for their daddy and he's not coming back," said McCoy-Mullins.

"We deserved to know why he took our baby. I want to hear it, other than what the streets are saying. I need to hear from this young man why he felt the need to kill Santario," she continued.

Davis' next court appearance in front of a judge will be in August with his trial expected to begin in October.

The Family of McCoy has setup an account in his memory to help pay for funeral cost and other expenses.
