GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

Police are investigating after thieves broke into a Gastonia reptile store and stole several exotic animals worth thousands of dollars.

The incident happened Sunday around 3 a.m. at Reptile Passions on W Franklin Boulevard, according to a report from Gastonia police.

Surveillance video of the break-in shows a man with his face covered, wearing gloves and what appears to be a flashlight on his head going from bin to bin, placing animals into a bag.

One of those animals was a pied reticulated python worth $12,000, according to the official report.

On the business' Facebook page they have a list of more than 30 animals stolen in total, including pythons, boas and geckos.

The owner, Jonathan McMillan, says he just wants the reptiles returned safely to the store, and asks anyone with any information to call the authorities.

Anyone with information about the incident or the ones responsible should call Gastonia Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.
