CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Christine Cofer was gardening one day and realized there was much more food than she and her family could eat. She wanted to utilize some unused land in Catawba County to grow food for those in need whether they are homeless or food poor.
That was five years ago and with encouragement from Catawba County and financial support and youth group kidpower from Corinth Reformed Church and other churches, the growth is tremendous.
Now the organization is hoping to increase volunteerism for it's mission and others. Tad Texer, with Catawba County HOPE Garden and Christine Cofer, founder/director of Hope Garden, visited WBTV News Sunday Morning to talk about their efforts.
