SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

A Charlotte man was arrested on Wednesday after investigators say he was at the center of a large drug distribution ring in Rowan and Cabarrus counties.

Desmond Lamonte Clark, 34, is charged with 35 drug related crimes, including numerous counts of trafficking heroin, according to a news release from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say Clark supplied large amounts of heroin and crack cocaine in NC's piedmont region for the past five years.

Rowan and Cabarrus counties were a large part of the distribution network.

Narcotics agents say they were able to purchase drugs directly from Clark on seven separate occasions in Rowan County.

The heroin purchases themselves ranged from five to 20 grams at a time, all trafficking level offenses.

Clark was arrested at his home and investigators seized almost $5,000 cash and other items connected to his drug distribution.

He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $3,000,000 secured bond.
