Police: Alabama man shot, killed behind Salisbury apartment

An Alabama man who was visiting Salisbury was found shot and killed behind an apartment complex late Monday night, police say.

According to police in Salisbury, 36-year-old Shanta "Sean" Maurice Lomax was found behind an apartment along the 900 block of E. Lafayette Street around 11:35 p.m.

Officers say it appears Lomax died from gunshot wounds.

A neighbor, Jewan Little, told WBTV the incident started with an altercation up the street from the apartment where Lomax's body was later found.

"Me and my next door neighbor saw him take his last breath, because he looked at me and my next door neighbor and that is when he said 'thank you' and went off and died," Little said.
Little told WBTV he called police and tried to help Lomax.

Lomax was originally from Salisbury and had moved to Alabama but was visiting here this past week.

Family members believe the father of two was shot in the front of the building and ran to the back where he died. They don't know who he could have been visiting.

"We love him and we going to miss him. They took a good cousin from us," Yevette Robertson said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
