A Conover man arrested on an armed robbery charge confessed to three other breaking and entering crimes, according to a release from the Newton Police Department.

James Alexander Weathers, 28, was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The armed robbery happened on May 8, at the Kangaroo Express on E. 20th Street in Newton.

Police say a Weathers went into the store with a large knife and demanded money from the clerk. Once he was given money from the register he left the scene on foot.

Investigators used surveillance video to identify Williams as the suspect in that crime.

While being interviewed about the crime, police say Weathers confessed to not only the armed robbery, but to a breaking and entering in Alexander County and two breaking and entering crimes in Catawba County.

Weathers was then arrested and taken to the Catawba County Detention Center where he was placed under a $25,000 bond.
