Troutman man arrested after deputies find marijuana grow operation in garage

A Troutman man is behind bars after investigators say he was growing marijuana in his home.

John Joseph Lovell, 54, is charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were providing a security escort for a domestic disturbance at the home when they smelled marijuana.

Lovell admitted to having a bag in the bathroom.

Deputies then searched the home and found evidence of a grow operation.

Inside the garage, deputies found a small room that had been built as a grow room with pots, fertilizer, potting soil, heat lamps, timers, and an exhaust system.

Three medium sized marijuana plants were also located along with marijuana seeds intended for future planting.  Deputies seized all the items as evidence.

Lovell was placed in the Iredell County Jail under a $10,000 bond.
