High ozone levels continue to loom over region, hit or miss storms continue

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says we're stuck in a weather rut this week.

More technically speaking, we're stuck under a ridge of high pressure. That means heat and humidity will continue to be uncomfortable, Conklin says.

While thunderstorms will be possible every day, they'll be very hit or miss.

The lack of organized, widespread rainfall coupled with a lack of low-level mixing of the air means high Ozone readings are likely, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

A code orange ozone day has already been declared for Wednesday. That means children, the elderly and anyone with respiratory issues should limit their time outdoors.
