Hello everyone this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom. Tonight Mecklenburg County has decided to ask voters if they'll pay a quarter cent extra sales tax to give teachers a raise. The board voted to place a referendum on the ballot in November for the extra sales tax.
Will it ever end? Another 800 gallons of sewage spilled into Lake Wylie tonight. This continues to be a thorn in the side of the Riverkeeper and Lake Wylie Marine Commission. A "No Swim" order is in effect until the county can test the bacteria count.
A worthy honor for NC Forest Officer Jason Crisp who was killed during a manhunt. Representatives Robert Pittenger and Patrick McHenry helped push through a vote in the US House to name a new National Forest Facility in Burke County after Crisp. The new facility is in Nebo, not far from where Crisp and his K9 Maros were both killed by a man wanted for murdering his parents.
A transgendered student in South Carolina was told he had to remove his makeup before he could take a picture to get his driver's license. 16-year old Chase Culpepper is a male who wants to live life as a female. His mother is livid that the government is telling him he has to conform to a specific image for his gender. Hear what South Carolina DMV says about the issue.
