Hello everyone this is Paul Cameron in the WBTV Newsroom. Tonight Mecklenburg County has decided to ask voters if they'll pay a quarter cent extra sales tax to give teachers a raise. The board voted to place a referendum on the ballot in November for the extra sales tax.
Will it ever end? Another 800 gallons of sewage spilled into Lake Wylie tonight. This continues to be a thorn in the side of the Riverkeeper and Lake Wylie Marine Commission. A "No Swim" order is in effect until the county can test the bacteria count.
A worthy honor for NC Forest Officer Jason Crisp who was killed during a manhunt. Representatives Robert Pittenger and Patrick McHenry helped push through a vote in the US House to name a new National Forest Facility in Burke County after Crisp. The new facility is in Nebo, not far from where Crisp and his K9 Maros were both killed by a man wanted for murdering his parents.
A transgendered student in South Carolina was told he had to remove his makeup before he could take a picture to get his driver's license. 16-year old Chase Culpepper is a male who wants to live life as a female. His mother is livid that the government is telling him he has to conform to a specific image for his gender. Hear what South Carolina DMV says about the issue.
And yet another large tornado is tearing through Nebraska tonight. One little girl is dead and 16 more are critical after last night's twin twisters destroyed the town of Pilger.

Wesley Chapel Fire Department battled a residential fire in Union County Tuesday night. Officials say flames were showing upon their arrival. The fire was extinguished within ten minutes, reports stated. No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to assist the homeowner.More >>
Briggs, the dog York County police found with his tongue cut off and tied to a tree, passed away Tuesday night. Noah's Arks Rescue posted an update on Briggs stating he had become septic and was unable to keep down any food or water from the previous day.More >>
The Salvation Army Center of Hope was expected to be crowded Tuesday evening. Temperatures are expected to drops into the 20s overnight. The facility serves as a shelter for women and children in need of a temporary place to stay.More >>
Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board (CMS) voted on new leadership at its Tuesday night board meeting. Mary McCary was re-elected as chairperson. This is her fifth year being selected to lead the board. She says she will be more intentional about her role this time around.
