Code Orange ozone level in effect for Tuesday

A ridge of high pressure setting up in the upper levels of the atmosphere means we will be dealing with high heat and humidity for an extended stretch of time, says WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin.

While thunderstorms will be possible every day, they'll be very hit or miss.

The lack of organized, widespread rainfall coupled with a lack of low-level mixing of the air is means high Ozone readings are likely, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

The NC Division of Air Quality has declared a Code Orange ozone level for Wednesday meaning children, the elderly and people with respiratory problems should limit their time outdoors on Tuesday.
