HICKORY, NC (WBTV) -

Two bulls were captured in Hickory after a trailer carrying the animals flipped on Interstate 40 on Monday, setting them free for nearly three hours.

The crash was reported just after noon on the eastbound ramp to Interstate 40 from McDonald Parkway SE in Hickory, according to emergency crews.

Crews worked to corral the bulls until around 3 p.m., when both were captured.

WBTV has learned that two Hickory police officers had to take a break after having issues with the heat while searching for the loose bulls. The officers are expected to be okay.

A team from Maiden also responded to the area to help capture the bulls.

The bulls' owner says the animals are tame, but were just scared after the wreck spilled them.
