FORT MILL, SC (WBTV) -

Monday was a historic day for economic development in South Carolina.

Governor Nikki Haley announced that three companies plan to establish headquarters in South Carolina near Charlotte, bringing 7,100 new jobs and $800 million in investments.

The three separate announcements combined to mark the most jobs announced in a single day in South Carolina's history.

Haley announced that healthcare company The Lash Group and LPL Financial will establish headquarters in Fort Mill's Kingsley Park.

The two companies combined will create 5,400 jobs in the area.

"We hope that it sets a very positive precedent for relocations of this type. We take a look of the diligence they had and the process they went through and arriving at Fort Mill being the special place they wanted to be, we hope that their peers will do the same," said Fort Mill Mayor Danny Funderburk.

Haley also announced Giti Tire will open a new headquarters in Chester County. She said Monday's big economic news was not only a win for the area, but the state overall.

"This is a game changer for South Carolina. This continues to show countries across the world why South Carolina is a great place to do business," said Governor Haley.

Akahana Asian Bistro Bar Co-owner Richard Tang moved his business from Charlotte to Fort Mill one year ago and Monday's news of 5,400 jobs coming to the area has him optimistic about the future.

He hopes the influx of new jobs helps his bottom line.

"Thousands of people mean more business for me. I like to see Fort Mill growing. That means all the businesses in Fort Mill will prosper, so it's good news," said Tang.

As for Tang, he hopes new businesses keep moving into the area, just as he envisioned when coming to Fort Mill.

"We planned for Fort Mill to grow and to actually see it come to fruition, it's an awesome feeling I just means our future is going to be very successful," said Tang.

The 3,000 jobs announced by LPL Financial represent the single biggest announcement in York County's history.
